I am reading the advice posts on this site and I wonder...

I am being given an amount of LS from the owner of the tank that I am getting. Would it better to put all of that into something and start a refugium and use play sand to generate LS in the main tank?

In otherwords, would it best to keep the good sand in a safe place away from anything that might be added to a freshly cycled tank that might eat or kill the good stuff in the LS that is being given to me?

Did I just repeat myself there? Nevermind, any help would be... say helpful?

thanks!

IF you don't have any sand sifters in your tank yet then there's nothing there to eat them. Let them get off to a good start in the main tank and then you can use that sand to see your refugium when you're ready to set it up.
