I have a half dollar size piece of ricordia that i want to cut in half and take to my tank at home.

People said that I should simply pull it off the rock. Well I tried and it doesn't just "pull off" or maybe i am afraid of pulling to hard.

Can i take a razor blade and trim it from the bottom as close to the rock as I can get? or will it die if I do this?

Just finished looking at ww.garf.org, under coral propogation. Check there. Got good pics and everything of ricordia farming/propogation.

You can just cut it at the base with a razor.... they're hard to attach though..... lotsa slime....having said that I put mine in a pinch somewhere on my LR so they can't just float away.... a few days later they've attached themselves and are doing great........
