I've lost the instructions for my canister filter and have no clue as to what is in each basket.
The first basket has five pouches in it. Four of them seem to be identical, and the last one is a little larger than the other four, plus the media inside the pouch seems smaller in diameter.
The second basket is all sponges.
The last basket has white hexagon things in it with a filter pad at the bottom.
So, what exactly are these things and how often should they be replaced?
I've been cleaning the canister and baskets every two weeks, rinsing off everything that is in the baskets.
As I posted in another thread, I've taken control of my father's aquarium since he wasn't doing a great job with the upkeep, so I'm trying to catch up on info before things go terribly wrong.
