I was thinking of buying a RO/DI unit for my 40g tank. It seems like people are saying RO is for drinking and RO/DI is for reef systems.

I figured, since I will be buying the RO/DI unit for my aquarium, why not use the purified water for drinking also.

What I am wondering was if RO/DI water is safe to drink. I did a search on the net but can't find any info. If anyone can shed some light, I'd appreciate it.

You can place a tee in the line after it passes through the RO portion. Have one line go to the DI and have the other go to a charcoal filter (like an ice maker filter) and use that one for drinking. You can buy a "drinking water kit" from most places that sell RO/DI and this is exactly what it is.
