I read the article about reverse osmosis and have some questions. I'm assuming this is a unit that you only need to use to clean the water you're going to add to the tank one time. So then the unit is not connected to your aquarium, correct? Which means you can just pull it out when you need to use it, as opposed to mounting it somewhere?

How do you figure out what size unit you need? What number of gallons per day? I have a 55-gallon tank.

Can anyone recommend a good system for my size tank? I also have the small 15-gallon tank as well.

The RO/DI unit is used to make water for water changes and top offs. You can get an adapter for it so it just screws on to a faucet and you just hook it up and use it when you need some water.

The size doesn't really matter except something like a 100 gal/day unit has a bigger R/O membrane and it will last longer than say a 50 gal/day membrane.

I got mine on Ebay from FilterDirect.
