RO vs Spring Water

I've been using 5 gallon drums of spring water for my QT and DT. In my area, the tap water is not drinkable. I've been thinking of getting a RO/DI filter to handle the little bit of hair algae I got in my tanks. But I worry that the RO will not be as safe because of the desalinated tap water we have.

Any thoughts?

I forgot to mention that I'm running at phosphate reactor, which I've recently replaced the phos inside with Seachem Sea Gel and I'm running two bags of Seachem Purigen.
