Picked up 50# of live sand
2 700 gph power heads
2 250 gph power heads
had to order my heater ,skimmer and hob filter
I traded the lr I had cause it was infested with manjo
My local pet shop did a even swap for lace rock 50#
they told me they have people who want the pest infested rock
I have the lace rock down stairs in a 55 gal brute curing
until I'm ready for it

filled tank with sand and filled with water This is a 40 gal breeder but it took 50gal to fill

added 2 700 gph power heads to circulate water

now I need to wait for sand to settle so I can add live rock

Genius! I would have never thought of that, but it's brilliant! Gonna do that with my next tank.

If you go with a community tank, I have a fish suggestion. I just got a red chromis this last week. It's beautiful. I had never seen one before, only the blue and green ones. Here's a pic:



Mine's only about 1/2" right now, but LA says they get 3" max. Very colorful fish!

yes they are very nice looking fish
but it's not a chromis sorry to say
it's a red honey damsel

Don't be sorry to say, he's getting along great with everyone and he's beautiful. Chromis are in the damsel family, after all, so that doesn't surprise me. From what I read, they're called both red chromis and red honey damsel. He's beautiful either way.

was looking at some frags I want to order
$130. gets 12 1 1/2 inch frags of SPS
think it will be a nice start But that's after everything is up and running

found a softie frag pack too this ones $99. for 10 frags
figured the ones that don't fit in with the sps I'll add to my other tank like the zoa and shrooms

and I found a zoa pack 12 frags for $110.
that I'll add to my other tank

wow that's a lot of coral
I figure in march I'll order all this
that way I will have time to finish set up and get it running right
Saw a nice light on ebay I need to order it soon

Finally got all the rock cured now it's time to scape I'll get picts up as soon as I get all the rock in next day or so....
My plan is to make 2 rock mountains with caves on either end and a small island in the center

Any good suggestions ???

I don't know how far along you are, but I found this build on another site. I'm blown away, but hey I'm new here.

after adding all the rock and scaping
a total of 65# still needs a few more
picts are a little cloudy but I will get more once it clears up
so what you guys think so far
rock has a bunch of sponge,clam,some zoa,macro algae
the rock also has tons of pods now need to wait and see what survives the cycle

think it needs a few more pounds rock especially the center island
theirs tons of caves just found 2 emerald crabs
I want this one to be a total different look than my 37g
