I was thinking about if it is a good idea to put some kind of rubber mat on the bottom of my tank then the sand on top of it. This is so I can put rocks onto it and not have them touching the glass. Would it cause problems??

What kind of rubber? IMO no matter type you use you'll have problems latex will have oils real rubber will have toxins better to stick with the egg crate

Not entirely sure I was thinking maybe silicone baking sheets. Haven't read up on them yet though so they could be bad

I would also do the egg crate. Your asking for trouble with the silicone or rubber or latex.

Good luck!
