salt levels in reef tank?

Normally salt level should be between 1.02 - 1.026. Least from all the books & sites I've read thats the range...so you should be ok.

I keep mine at 1.024 @ 82 F. That's where I recommend you keep yours. You don't mention the temperature of your tank. Specific gravity is temperature dependant. The higher the temp, the lower ther SP. If your temp is 80 or less then your SP is too low.
 
Only very slightly. What you want is 35ppt salinity, when measuring SG it will go up and down with temp...salinity stays the same. The higher the temp...the lower the SG. I would say 1.023 would be close to 35ppt @ 84*, at 82* it should be closer to 1.024.
 
I should point out...those numbers are off the top of my (oh so pointy) head, and you should verify them. I think there is a chart in one of the links I provided in my earlier post.
