Howdy,

How long can a salt water mix in a container last before using? I have 40g of water made up and in a container with 3 power heads going but due to a death in the family I had to immediately leave and not use it. It will be at least 2 weeks if not 3 before I can actually put it into the tank. I would rather not have to pour it out because that is also a lot of salt to go in (20 cups worth or so).

While I'm at it, how does everyone else mix up their salt? I have two 44g brute trash cans and have 40g of water in each. I only time to mix up one of the containers before having to leave home, but didn't know what other people did. I know to mix it for at least 24 hours before putting into the tank and I also have a heater if needed.

Thanks!

Sounds good. Sitting for two or three weeks should be fine.

I use a trash can to hold the RO/DI water and a five gallon bucket to mix it in.
