I have a big 55 gallon rubber maide tub that I do my salt water mixes in and are stored in the garage. Recently we started some work in the garage and moved the tub to the utility room where it set without the power head running for a good couple months.

I am about to do a water change that requires this large tub which is about a quarter ways full but I am concerned about it sitting this long without movement.

Will it be safe to fill up the rest of the way with water and make use of what is left or should I dump it and start with a %100 fresh mixture?

Smell it, IMHO if it smells ok then add some more to it and use it, I used to store my sw in 5 gal buckets for up to a month before using them. I quit that pratice but you are probally safe.

A couple of months is a while to go. To be safe, I would ditch it and mix some more. Thre is a good chance the water may be okay, but why risk it?
