Second Coral

Ok still staying in the easy section. My green star polyps are doing great and it was time for my next one. After seeing me eye his pulsing xenia's my LFS owner gave my a small colony for $5. Pays off to be nice.
Really pumped about these guys I am off work tommorrow so I hope to be able to work on my web page and get some new pics up. I will let every one know when I do.

P.S. Still dony know what tang I want Powder blue or hippo
Guess when I am ready for it I will just go with whatever is available and cheapest

DK,

You were fortunate your LFS owner offered you a frag from a p.xenia coral for $5. Usually this particular coral is a real money maker for FS's, at least this being true in my area. Shops cannot seem to keep up with demand.

My understanding is that this coral is very prolific in a well run tank. I hope you have lots of success. There are folks I am aware of who trade LFS's their p.xenia frags for new corals. And, what a great way to increase one's collection!

I have not ever had great success with growing p.xenia in spite of the fact they are notoriously easy and rapid growers. I have no idea where I have gone wrong!

Any way, thanks for sharing your story with us, DK. Have fun on your day off watching your xenia pulse. It can be a really neat sight. And the one hint I have been offered regarding xenia is to place a frag touching an area in your tank where it can spread. The advise I was given was to let it grow up an area on the glass. A razor blade then makes short order of removing a portion to trade or sell...

Sue

Well when your ready to give away some of this prolific grower you can send some my way.

Until then I guess I will have to do with some photos.

:hint: :hint:

On the tang issues I really like my PBT. I have only had it for less than two months now so I dont have enough experence with it to give a good recomendation either way. :knock on wood: I its been ICH free since day 1. Only problem is that Im still trying to fatten it up.
