sixline wrasse

Question for you guys...

I was just told that sixline wrasse are unsafe for reef tank because they might pick on the corals and the inverts. Is that true???

They will deplete detrivore populations such as amphipods, bristle worms, and other small inverts which are all good for the overall health of a reef tank so unless you have a fairly large tank and alot of lr, I'd stay away from one in a reef, IMO.

Well, that's not exactly accurate. I had to remove a sixline wrasse from my current reef for nipping at corals. I think it is uncommon, but not unheard of. I would give them the benefit of the doubt, they are a cool and active fish, just be midful of what they are doing in your tank.

Do you think mabye it was picking pods, or even red bugs or something off the corals? Just a thought.
