skimmer in sump

can i place a HOB skimmer on a sump? i am building a small 10 gallon sump for 29g. i want to just hang aqua c remora on the edge of the 10 gallon and extend the powerhead down into the water. will this work? is there some physics i am missing that would cause a overflow or some other problem?

Works just fine. I am doing it in my wet/dry sump. Just get a peice of 1/2" ID tubing and extend the powerhead down into the water.
