Sponge and microalgae

I picked up an orange sponge a few weeks ago and since then he has been overtaken by diatom algae....... any ideas on how to help him out???? He's in the light right now.....

moved the sucker outta the light....... if you guys have any other suggestions I'm open......

Try to keep it in a low light area with lots of water flow.
