I'd love to have multi-colored and red tree and ball sponges but know nothing about them. Are they OK in the average reef tank? Can't find any good info on searches here and wondering if they are a nuisance, or sensitive, or whatever. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

They seem difficult to ship as well. Of the few things I have read, if they are exposed to air (at least the ones that are not hitch hikers...unless you are lucky) they have a dismal survival rate.

Large sponges (either ball or tree) are difficult to keep. Only very large and mature systems that have the ability to absorb and process the intense bioload caused by feeding these animals should be used.
