Starfish question

I have a Chocolate Chip Star and every now and then I notice that this brownish thing comes out near his mouth. Is that him expelling waste by turning his stomach inside out or is it only anemones that do that? OR am I really confused and niether do that?

...now picture a huge clear "blob" looking thing expelling about 10x that much in a big brown slimy string. That's an anemone's waste Feel fortunate.

sounds yummy, I think in the future I may try an anemone, but I want to wait until the tank is WELL established.

Yeah my choco chip also does this when it finds food. It's especially visible when it comes across the clip holding the nori on the side of the tank
