I am in the process of setting up my 65 gal tank and have really confused myself on the lighting research. I am debating between the T5 6x39W and the VHO 4x96W. I have been outvoted on the MH ... so that is not an option. I am wanting to do coral and some clams up on the LR. The manufacturer claims that the T5's with the individual reflectors will provide enough light to do this, but I can't find any comments to support this claim. My tank is 36" long and 19" above the substrait. I am making a canopy with an open back that will allow me to mount a retro kit 7-8" above the water level. Any thoughts or previous experience is greatly appreciated! Also, any comments about the height of the lights above the water and any heat factors from these bulbs is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
