right now my tank has no cover. I have a t5 hood that covers most of the tank but when my water evaporates its causing my lights and hood to get crusty. What should I do? Get some glass to cover over my tank and sit the hood on top of that? Where would be a good place to buy what I need to protect my light hood? There is nothing coveriing the bulbs right now.

Are you using an airstone or something that produces bubbles? If so, get rid of it, that's causing the salt creep. Otherwise, you want to try to keep the tank top open to air. Covering it with glass will inhibit gas exchange and cause pH and temp problems etc. Look into some fluorescent lighting eggcrate. It will cut down on the salt creep a little bit and still allow air flow. HTH
