I just wanted to get some ideas if different live rock set ups. So like if anyone has good pics I would love to see them and try and get some good ideas from you guys!!! I have a 55 gallon tank and primarily want to make the fish swim in front if the tank of course

Here's mine before I started to put the corals in. I wanted mine on the back wall so the fish are forced to swim in front. I like the avalanche effect from 1 corner. It's not to everyones liking, but it's what the wife and I like.

Here's my latest work. Made out of 4 pieces at 15.5 lbs dry. It'll be going in my tank probably next week, got it curing right now.

I kinda like the look of it running against the back wall but giving them a little back their but also taking up the length of the tank. Anyone set up like that a little bit or similar in any way?

I think so. Here is mine, most of the rock is against the back wall, runs the length of the tank and the caves come out more either side

How do you guys like it against the back? And do you just kinda like put them down and just see how they end up or like actually set them up specifically

The beauty of home aquariums is that you can make it look how ever you want. I have mine resting on the back glass and still made arches and tunnels for them to swim and hide. The do however, like to swim out front more often.

I had an idea in mind and then started laying the rocks. Then made some changes to get what I wanted.
I would recommend egg crate on the bottom tho to keep rocks from scratching the glass. Here's how mine went down
1. Egg crate cut to size
2. Sand just to fill in the egg crate holes
3. Base rocks on the egg crate. Spaces between so burrowing fish and critters had some deep sandy crevasses between base rocks.
4. Sand to desired depth and stacking rocks on base rocks.
5. Then add more rocks to the pile as per your design concept. Make sure everything is sturdy and can easily withstand a large turbo snails redesign plans.

Using the back wall certainly makes the stack more stable as you build.

This is 300lbs in a 150g. Put select pieces deep in the sand that act as pillars. And just work the rock around piece by piece until you like it. And keep it open for caves and water flow. . It took me ten hours to finally get it the way I liked it. You can use less rock. That way when you do buy a coral that is already on a rock. You will have a place to put it.. And research what corals you want. So you can aquascape your tank for certain corals.

What you guys think? Add some more?

Here's a pic if mine. The rocks are all along the back wall but the fish still have room to hide back there.
