I'm hearing the penny against glass tapping that tells me I've got one of those snapping, smashing, spearing type of shrimp. How do I tell what type of shrimp it is. And if it is a bad guy, How do I catch him and sump him. I've heard these taps for a while but just cant find the little guy.

might be a pistol shrimp, it will probably be hard too catch, might have better luck at night.

You can buy traps for them from most LFS or you can get one online at places like www.drsfostersmith.com

But i warn you i have read that they are smart enough that if you mess up and miss em once they wont fall for it again
