I am in the middle of my build and am working on the background that I made out of pvc and foam. What is the appropriate method for painting? Why kind of paint is recommended most? If I use the tinted "masonry dry lock" traditionally seen on youtube, how long do I wait or what is the rule of thumb for soaking it as to reduce the chances of messing up the pH in my show tank?

What kind of background? What kind of foam and how are you using it?

As for paint, just use Krylon Fusion for the PVC. It bonds to the PVC at a molecular level and won't harm your tank. Just make sure it is dry. Walmart carries the paint btw.

Thanks.... I am going to try the krylon.... I build a background using foam board as the base, then added PVC pipe and great stuff stray on foam to give it detail and dimension. I will get the krylon paint today. My project is coming a long nicely, will post picures of the stages sometime next week...
