Uv steralizer

Is it ok to have a uv steralizer in in a reef tank. And when I feed my corals will the uv won't kill the food.

I have a reef tank never ran a uv but I do think it will kill anything that passes through it good or bad that's why I never invested in one.

UV sterilizer will help control unwanted algae bloom including parasites but not totally. It should only be used sparingly. I remove it once I have everything under control.
