water filtration question.

Hello.., i was wondering what is a good way to get rid of all these little pieces floating around in my tank? some are super little micro bubbles from the skimmer and some is just crap from the rocks i think.. it doesnt ever settle.. i was thinking about putting a piece of sponge or something around the power head filter part.. would this be a good idea to filter some of the pieces? what is the best way to keep my water clear of any pieces floating? i do not have much money.

Once the skimmer is "tuned" correctly it should remove a decent amount of junk. If not, GAC will usually do the trick nicely.
