what is the difference: saltwater & reef & marine?

also, do you need to use a special salt ??
people use salt to treat diseases in freshwater aquariums - is this the same salt ???
 
Saltwater and marine in my opinion is the same. Reef is the term used for a system that contains corals.

Yes, special (sea) salt is required to do a saltwater/marine/reef tank. Freshwater salt isn't the same.
