What is this growth

So in my 10 gallon on my desk at my office, I came in this weekend to see these little star shaped growths in my tank.
No at first I am like ooo star fish babies but I have no star fish in this tank (yet)
It is a new tank so I have some snails, a hermit crab, a clown fish and 2 small colonies of ZOA
They are small (maybe 1 mm)
Translucent (makes it hard for them to show up with my i phone)
have a denser center and 8 arms or tentacles type things. They do not seem to be effecting any of my levels or the live stock that are in there.

What are they?

Ps the green in the background is the cubicle wall not algae

That would be a hydroid.

The last time I checked I believe hydroids were bad

In mass. It is pretty common to see a couple show up during the first several months a tank is established before they die out.
