Copepods are tiny and amphipods get to about 1/4" long with a curled body.

Is one better than the other? I have more amphipod than the other in my tank. Some seem to be getting very large too.

Not really. Your fish not eating them? However some of them are bad. They will attach to your fish.

FWIW those are isopods. Neither copepods or amphipods are better. In fact if you have one in most instances you have both, you just haven't noticed. Regardless either are signs of atleast decent bio-diversity and good husbandry. HTH
