whats the quietest weirs?

whats the quietest weirs?
whats the quietest weirs?

i have just had my newe tank up and going for about two months, but may in the future get a bigger, its always the case, tank. And for that i was wondering what would be the best set-up fo it be silent!

just like to know so i have it and when i want the new tank will be able to go and order it without having to do the research then.

I would like it to be say 100" by 24" by 40" high, how would you guys do?

and what would you do for circulation as i would also like now powerheads in the tank, would you have closed loops coming back in to the back of the tank.

thanx andrew

If you dont wany power heads in the tank then your only alternitives for circulation will be closed loop or a sump setup. Both require pumps that often produce some level of noise. My little giant puts off a low hum. Overflows will produce some amount of noise depending on how you configure them. If you use a stand pipe you can cut down on some of that aswell.

Can you define now silent it needs to be?

tank at the mo
what do you mean by that?

If you plumb it well and plan the returns well and baffle the sump well you can get a very quite setup. As you have said the bulkd of the noise can come from the water splashing.

at the mo = moment, sorry. oh is it best to have the water going down the pipe fully? as my weirs are through the back of the tank, when you look at the bulkhead should it be full of water or only half full?
