when to replace RO/DI cartridges?

i have a coralife RO/DI rated at 50GPD.

just wondering how i know when to replace the filter things?
 
I was led to believe the di membrane is around 2 years and the ro filters and membrane about 6 months,i think

It's the other way around. The RO Membrane should last about 2 years. The pre-filters about 6 months, and the DI resin depends, but usually about 6 months.

Of course, this all depend on how much water you go through. If you only run it to make water for your tank, all the prefilters and resin could last years. Also depend on the input TDS of your tap water.

I made about 1500 gallons before I had to replace my pre-filters, replaced resin a few times in there (whenever TDS isn't zero anymore, I replace the DI resin).
