Whitening Coralline

My lovely purple coralline algae is starting to develop white spots. You can see the attached picture. Any ideas why this would be happening?

I believe it's dieing for some reason. If it's new LR that is pretty common. Another reason is a change in lighting. I'm sure there are many more reasons but those are a couple I can think of.

I am trying to raise the Alk slowly with water changes to the 10 dKH area.

That`s a good idea. It is low. If the PWC does not do it, add some Kent`s coral builder. It is good for corraline algea. Some times PWC are not enough depending on what type of Salt you use.
