Yellow Tang coral nibbler?

Over the last week I have noticed my Tang nipping at my red open brain.
What gives?

Are you sure he was actually nibbling at the coral or something on the coral? The reason I ask is because I've seen both of my tangs apparently nibbling at one of my corals, but then when I looked closer, they were just eating some pellets that had gotten stuck on him. My tangs don't even like frozen mysis, let alone living corals.

Yellow tangs are supposed to be reef safe. Mine has never nipped at corals but as the saying goes "never say never". I kind of would agree with palisaide but I do know someone on this site that said her tangs nip at brains also. You`ll have to watch and make the judgement. Here is some info on the yellow tang

Might be a bit of algae in the area? Mine has never gave me any problems.

There is a slight chance of Yellow Tangs nipping at some corals and clams. Our tag at the LFS I worked at had a caution color over the coral and clams. I took one home anyway and it started picking on my clam. My hippo tang also picked at my open brain. I ended up removing the Yellow Tang and The Brain.
