Anybody know any good areas relatively close by to collect driftwood at? I'd like to try and get a bunch of pieces and test how they look in a new tank im going to set up, and not spend $40 at a store.

Welcome to the forum. I'm not familiar with the tallahassee area, I'm over near pensacola. We are planning a trip over in that area in the next few months to go after some native fish. Anyhow, there are some places here like juniper creek and coldwater creek, tributaries into blackwater river that have lots of driftwood pieces all over. So I think your best bet is to look for shallow feeder creeks in your area.

Start by googling for local parks and recreation areas and then narrowing it down from there. Google earth is also a good resource as many of the popular places have photos attached to them along with the ground view.
