I bought a baby catfish at a pet store in Missouri and later discovered it was a channel catfish. My fiancée and I love him (his name is Blue), but we're moving to Minnesota. My fiancée tried calling the DNR and left a message asking if it was illegal, but they never called her back.

Does anyone know if there is a law, or where I should check to see if there is one.

there are fish stores that sell them with a permit.
It is not legal to keep fish you catch nor is it legal for a bait store to give away or sell gamefish.

That's it you can't bring them back from the lake but a few stores can sell them

I am thinking that it may also be along the lines of keeping cattle. Technically we do not have a permit for them or selling meat. but neither do the other thousands of farms in mn.
