Hi,

I have a freshwater tropical 100 gallon tank that im setting up.

Now I read a site that says a tank need to be turned over 4 times a hour, for me that would be 400 gph. Now originally I was going to do 2 emperor 400s since they both have 400 gph. But then I saw that they only have a gallon rationale g of up to 80 gallons?

So I decided to do one aquaclear 110, 500 gph and up to 100 gallons and a penguin 350b filter for up to 80 gallon and 350 gph.

But my dad says that it doesn't matter the gallon rating, that gph matters more? So my question is which filter combination is better and which matters more gph or gallon rating.

I would go for x2 aquaclear 110s. That's gonna give you x 10 turnover rate and you will be much more pleased. I'm gonna have like x40 turnover rate on my 75g for my Oscar so it also depends on your fish as well and judging by your other thread x10 will work

Your dad is right, the GPH is the important figure.
