20 gal maintenance?

i have a 20 gallon thats been running for 5 months but i still cant find a good maintenance routine. im thinking of making it a gbr tank but i need to get it together first (maintenance wise). i tried doing 60% twice a week but it seems like poop builds up a lot and it gets tannis really fast too. im curently trying 50 every three days. being a clean freak with my tanks i dont really know about 25% a week. i was just wondering what you guys do.

o i have a 55 too and do 50% twice a week and that's been perfectly fine because it has much more water but with the 20 parameters can change faster. i have and aquaclear 50 btw

You could run carbon on your filter to clear up the coloring from the tannins. If the fish are messy and you don't want to do a water change you could use a device like a turkey baster to possibly get the poop out.
