20 gallon stocking ideas

Hello,

I have an empty 20 gallon tall tank and I'm looking for stocking ideas. I've been thinking about some Threadfin Rainbowfish, but I've never kept them before. Would a 20 be large enough? What other fish would you suggest with the rainbowfish?

Or any other thoughts or ideas?

Fresh Water tank, ph 7.5 ish. But the tank isn't cycled yet so I'm still evening everything else out.it'll be a bit before anything live goes in.( I found this tank in storage.)

Kh/gh? Do you have hard soft water? Plants?

Can't test gh with my kit

Unsure on plants. I've had a planted tank before but I was leaning towards no for this one.
