AC 20 cascade

The cascade on my AC 20 filter isn't flowing as it was (almost nothing).
Does that mean it is time to clean the filter? I have had it for about 3 weeks

Rinse the filter in tank water, not tap. Then clean the gunk off the impeller, and check the intake tube for debris clogging it.

What's the impeller?
Also do I clean the gunk with tank or tap water?

Other then the filter media, the rest can be cleaned with tap. When you take the intake assembly out, the impeller is the piece that looks like fan blades

The only tool you should need is an old toothbrush. Everything should just come apart and go back together with no effort

I assume it needs to be cleaned in the old tank water that I will throwing away and not in the clean tank water
