Acidic, or just less basic? You can lower pH by adding RO water, but you cannot lower it beyond 7...to go lower would require some chemical, natural or otherwise....one natural way is via the use of peat. But the real question here is how acidic do you want to go, and why? Most fish do quite well in Toronto water, provided that they have been acclimated to it....and keeping an altered pH stable/steady can be very, very difficult.

thats very true tortis and also you can have ph swings wich will cause monsterous problems!

Hi Toirtis, I'm going to breed bettas and poeple said if the male in acidic environment, he will produce more male than female. Acidic scale about 6.8 is optimum for breeding . I think I'm going to try driftwood. Thanks.

Alot of bottled spring water is 6.8ph and wouldn't be expensive for a betta tank. It also won't cause ph swings unless you get distilled or ro water by accident.
