adding drift wood? ?

So I bought a few small pieses of drift wood today and not sure best way to A: clean it if that's necessary B: how do you get it to stay in place as obviously its gonna float ( hints drift wood). Any advise would be great Thanks.

I always run mine through the dishwasher at least once cycle, sometimes two. I've found it sinks quicker that way.

One thing I didn't mention (pretty obvious), don't put soap in when you do it.

Kinda figured as much, but thanks just in case that woulda been 40 dollars down the drain.
