so i all my other fitlers on all my other tanks have a lot of extra bio media in them, i always filled every little stop with media.

now i set up another tank and was thinking of take some media from each of my other filters and putting it in my new filter.

my question is: should i do this before or after i add fish?

since it will be like an instant cycle i figured i should add fish first so they can start producing ammonia before i add the media.

It might not be instant, and your gravel will still need time to colonize bacteria. I would wait a week or a few days just to be safe.

there is no gravel, im using aragonite.

but in a week, wont the bacteria start dying because theres no ammonia to feed it?
