That's faulty thinking.

Just because nothing has happened yet doesn't mean it's good. You can eat nothing but ice cream and candy for a long time before dying of malnutrition, after all. You need to get a test kit (preferably liquid) and test your water. You should also treat and tap water you use to get rid of anything in it thats harmful

Advice about bottom feeders

Our water is quite good except if they flush pipes or something.

FYI, Most fish shops will test water for you (or at least here they do). I rarely test much anymore but usually check tap water every season change (they change water supply here). Main one I do is nitrate and phosphate for planted tank. Also I test after big filter cleans or tank all-nighter re-scapes [emoji4]
