This looks like what the wee khuli loaches were exhibiting except he black spots and ulcers were not yet showing.
The dead loach lost a layer of skin and has a few bruisey ulcers now.
Dang! It is way to late to medicate the lil tykes...but it is the time of the year to give a heads up on this. I know it can hit indoor koi to and not just pond koi. I don't remember why.
I am not sure how many species of fish are susceptible to this. I hear all over the boards that new baby whatsits are dying in droves at this pet store or another....possibly vat and pond -raised fingerlings are bringing this with them in shipments...so it is best to be aware it exists.
More things to snag a stressed fish than the oldy ich standby.
