Aggressive Blue Gourami

Hi I’m a pretty new fish mum!

I’ve just adopted a male+female 3 spot gourami and the male seems very aggressive towards the female. It’s a 22 gallon tank and it’s just the two fish in there however it’s quite tall and I’ve heard they prefer wider tanks.
It’s quite well planted, mostly amazon sword.
Is there anything I can do to make the female more comfortable?

Larger aquarium with more site breaks or separate them.

At least two*females*for every one*male. Also try not to mix the variant colour morphs ie flame, red and sky blue, keep the same together.
