Air stone

you dont really need to.as long as your filter breaks the surface your fine.i have noticed no difference in my aquariums since i added airstones.
 
If you have a canister filter and your output nozzles are well under the surface like mine ... it doesn't produce any surface agitation. I run two air-stones for surface agitation which will help oxygen exchange.

You can add an air-stone whenever you want really .... I just added my second over the weekend. Plus, IMO, an air-stone can act as a short term back-up .., filters get clogged, impellers break, motors burn out ... etc.
 
Ive noticed that when I added my airstone the other day, the pump vibrates hard. Some of the cord is laying ontop of the tank right now and it vibartes a little also. Will the vibrations hurt the fish? Like I know taps on the glass and sounds like that magnifiy inside the tank.
