I have a 9 or 10 inch air stone and I was wondering, do I need to run it all the time or half the day?

Are you running it to help oxygenate the water or for looks?
I keep airstones running 24/7 in our large tanks to make sure the water is well oxygenated. Only other tank I use airstones in is our 40g, but we have them on a timer set to run at night after the CO2 shuts off.

Do you need to run it at all? Probably not. If you have adequate surface agitation, you can choose to run it when you want, or not at all.
