is aeration neccasary for a tank in means of an air wand that produces bubbles?

also when i shut off the air wand i can see alot of particles floating around what are those?

They are not needed. It is entirely up to you, if you like the way they look the use them. If you are injecting CO2 they are bad idea, since the surface agitation gases off your CO2.

the pump makes a wave type thing because it flows in if thats what u mean but how come i have alot of little particles going around the whole tank?

they look like air bubbles but smaller maybe its just the airwand becuase it is a 15inch air wand and it creates alot of good circulation

It could just be the airwand. Try turning off the wand and looking at the tank in 20 minutes.
