I got back into tropical fish a year ago. I have a 75 gallon tank,a 405 Fluval filter,I have lighting that gives me 1.44 watts per gallon. My tank is probably stocked to the max, lots of small fish, lots of shrimp, and nerite snails. A while back I developed a problem with BGA. I blocked off a window so no sunlight would come in, I put in a powerhead, backed off on the fish food, and started doing 30% water changes weekly. It took a little while but I got rid of it. Man I really was happy. Well now I have lots of plants and I just put in co2 injection. I now have a problem with staghorn. One of the plants I have is hornwort, and it just grows like crazy. The hornwort was added when I put in the co2. Up until the staghorn, the tank was doing great. I mean I'm rescuing baby fish and shrimp from the filter every week. So here is what I just did. I cut the lights back from 11 hours a day to 10, I've got the co2 coming on 2 hours before the lights go on.(before they came on at the same time),I got rid of half of the hornwort, and planted some fast growing stem plants. I also was adding flourish once a week, but now I thought I'd add flourish potassium instead. Am I on the right track? I would love any and all advice.
