Algae rocks

Can someone tell me the proper way to grow algae on a couple rocks for my three snails? I live on the east wing of my residence hall and get very good sunlight in my window. What rocks do I use? Does the water need to be conditioned? Anything else to direct me to doing this right? Thanks.

It's not often someone asks how to grow algae! Most people are trying to get rid of it.

Grab a few rocks from you local fish store and put it into an empty tank with a lot of lights or put the tank by the window. Algae will grow, trust me.

I have three snails that are involved in War of the Algae Wafer. Does the water need to be conditioned or just tap water?

Condition the water to remove chlorine and chloramine. Doing so will allow for good bacteria to grow on the rocks, in addition to algae.

Lol. I'll start that as soon as I can. If it shows what I get to witness, I had one nerite hit a Cory with his shell and poke another one in the eye with his feeler. The inca snail found a wafer the other day and nearly flipped over with the goodness of his crack algae. The other nerite is smaller and never gets anything other than the inca trying to crawl over it somehow.
