Algea bloom i think?

From the side my freshwater tank looks green but front it has a blue tint. Im using 2 80w 10000k bulbs and 2 80w act/bulbs. When i acrub the tank i have very little algea coming off. Is there a way to fix this

Yes dude, your water seems a bit green... You can put old tank water in a 5gallon white bucket, you'll see the true color of it.

On the picture I can see you got a strong lighting system... How much time your tank is running ?

Also what's your photoperiod ?

I put the water in a clear and a white container and it was clear. Very clear actually

Maybe 8 hours. Those lights have been there for not even a week before that i only had 1 48" 40 bulb.

YEah photo period means hours ON/day. That's on a timer ?

If you changed the lights for a stronger one, algae bloom can appear as I already got...
I would reduce your photoperiod for 6 hours/day... Or 5 (as you have no plants)... Maybe your lights are too strong... If you don't want to get the trouble I got to get rid of green water hehe... want to see pics ?

Thanks ill try i got a 9 watt uv sterilizer allready. It might be a reflection off the glass.

Lol dude, thoses picures are not the OP... FOr that small amount, he don't need UV ster. I got an UV sterilizer for my problem, removed it after 1 month... problem gone... The point is only to get good photoperiod for nutrients/co2/plants in the tank.

DON'T BUY IT... Just do it if it become a huge problem... Anyway, algae bloom is only good for an aquarium, nothing nocive... It give Hiding for fishs, less nutrients, etc... But ugly at look. Cut on light for now, It'll be okay. Also, for your strong lighing system, I would buy plants ! Plants will compete with algeas.

You can compare, 1.5 years without UV sterilizer, and no more cloudy water...

There's no harm in using a uv sterilizer. Ive never had an algae bloom but still use UV 24/7.
