Ok, it doesn't seem logical...ghost shrimp don't kill guppies, do they?
I picked up 3 guppies and two ghost shrimp on Monday. One of the shrimp had an unfortunate incident with an uncovered filter (I covered it when I realized what happened). The first death happened on Wednesday, and the second on Thursday. I don't know why. There was some damage done to the second guppy's tail. Today I checked the tank (they're in quarantine so I check them for ick or something visible), and the third one, who once had a blue tail, had a blue and white HALF tail. That was about 2 hours ago, and now he is dead. I checked my ammonia and nitrite before I put them in (they were both 0), then again after the first death (again, they were fine), and I'm going to check it again. The LFS
has a return policy where they replace the fish within 10 days of purchace for half price, regardless of the cause of death. I'm going to have a word with them, because my levels were fine (unless the ghost shrimp killed them, in which case it's my fault).
So what do y'all think? Is it possible they were murdered? Or did they more likely come to me with a disease?
